WALTERBORO " Mrs. Dorothy M. Warren Ostrander, 80, of Walterboro, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 after an extended illness. She was first married to the late Russell C. Warren of Walterboro and was the wife of the late Bert Ostrander of Michigan.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, May 1, 2009 at Sandy Dam United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Dot was born in TyTy, Georgia on January 23, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Marvin L. Mangham, Sr. and the late Eva Willis Mangham. She is survived by her six children, R. Wayne Warren of Walterboro, Cindy Warren Westbury of Walterboro, Suzanne Hutto of Walterboro, Nina Ohlandt of Walterboro, James Lee Warren of Watauga, Texas, and Mark C. Warren of Walterboro; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Dot was a life-long member of Sandy Dam United Methodist Church and Missionary Society, a charter member of the Colleton County Historical Society, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Walterboro Chapter. She was an active member of the Walterboro Al-Anon Group and depended on their love and support for many years. She was best known as Mrs. Dot, longtime bookmobile librarian for Colleton County, bringing the magic of reading to many children and adults.
Dot loved to read, work in her garden, and watch the many birds which congregated at her feeders.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her name to: Colleton County Library, 600 Hampton Street, Walterboro, SC 29488, where books will be purchased and given to the Colleton County Bookmobile in her memory.
