Mrs. Dorothy Crosby Smith, 94, of Walterboro, died Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2008, at the Ascension Hospice House in Irmo. She was the wife of the late Mr. Edward Campbell Smith, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Saturday morning, October 11, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Blvd., Walterboro.
Mrs. Smith was born September 9, 1914, in Colleton County, and was a daughter of the late Elwood Henry Crosby and the late Elizabeth OBrien Crosby. She was a retired seamstress from Walterboro Dress Corporation and was a member of ILGU Local No. 552. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro, where for years she was active in many aspects of the churchs work. She will be remembered for the love she possessed for her family as well as others.
Surviving are: her son, Thomas Ed Smith of Walterboro; four grandchildren, Thomas Lynn Smith and his wife Patricia of Walterboro, Robin S. Harrison and her husband Steve of Walterboro, Lisa S. Ackerman and her husband David of Savannah, Georgia, and Richard A. Smith of Walterboro; and seven great grandchildren, Drena Smith Hazel, Elizabeth Robin Harrison, Steven Parker Harrison, Brook Ackerman, Kayla Ackerman, Bobby Smith, and Cole Smith; as well as several dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Joe Smith and Randall Aimer Smith.
