Dorothy Mixon

Mrs. Dorothy Smith Mixon, 85, of Brunson, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of the Lowcountry in Estill. She was the widow of the late Odis L. Mixon.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Friday, November 2, 2012, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will be held privately.

Mrs. Mixon was born March 9, 1927 in Grays and was a daughter of the late William D. Smith and Rachel Mock Smith. She enjoyed growing flowers, but most of all, she centered her life around her family whom she loved and cared for dearly, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her daughters, Virginia Mixon of McCormick, Faye Mixon of Brunson, and Gail Peterson and her husband Pete of Guyton, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Bill Peterson of Springfield, Georgia and Jenna Rogers and her husband Wayne of Guyton, Georgia. She was preceded in death by brothers, Sammie Smith, Melvin Smith, and Callis Smith; and sisters, Kathleen Smith and Annie Mae Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
