Dorothy Kinsey

Mrs. Dorothy Lyons Kinsey, 89, of Smoaks, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Helena Place in Port Royal.  She was first married to the late Miles Lyons and secondly to the late John Kinsey.

Born May 13, 1932 in Hephzibah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late David Morgan and Leona McKenzie Morgan.  She was a retired employee of Ambler Manufacturing.  Mrs. Kinsey was a member of Buckhead Advent Christian Church.

Surviving are: her children, David W. Lyons of Smoaks, Wendell B. Lyons (Debby) of Walterboro, Pamela Lyons of Charleston and Jack Lyons (Brenda) of Islandton; brother, Thomas Morgan of Hephzibah, Georgia; sisters, Anne Mincey (Andy) of Blairsville, Georgia, Janice Weatherford of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Margie Doss (Ronnie) of Augusta, Georgia; grandchildren, Jamie Carter, Wendell Lyons, Jr. (Patty), Nicholas Akins, Amanda  Hope Lyons and Brandy Van Hulst (Eric); great grandchildren, Brantley Lyons, Timothy Lyons and Kim Robertson; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Hicks; brothers, Edward Morgan, Donald Morgan and Wayne Morgan; and a sister, Judy Dennis.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Helena Place and Compassus Hospice for the loving care they gave to Mrs. Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association or to Hagan Cemetery Fund.

Graveside funeral services will be held 4 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2021 at Hagan Cemetery in Smoaks.  Reverend Ronnie Doss officiating.
