Biography

Mrs. Dorothy Fralick Beals Gregory, 81, of Harvey Lane, Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday evening, April 26, 2014, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2014, beginning at 3 o'clock that afternoon at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes, Walterboro Chapel. Mrs. Gregory will be laid to her rest in a family committal ceremony later that day in Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.

Born February 16, 1933, a native and lifelong resident of Colleton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Olin Harvey Fralick, Sr. and the late Altha Mae Langdale Fralick. During her life, she was twice married, first to the late Mr. Carl David Beals and she was the widow of Mr. Clifton Manning Gregory. Mrs. Dot, as she was affectionately known, lived her life full of love and service centered around her family, music and the outdoors. For many years, she was a legal secretary for the Law Firm of Ackerman, Woodard, and Butler prior to her work and eventual retirement as a medical transcriptionist from Walterboro Family Practice. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, where she was active in in her attendance and service. At her church, she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class, the Sanctuary Choir, and the Women's Missionary Union. She was a talented pianist and organist, having played the piano for not only the worship services but was the pianist for the Adult 1 Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Her life legacy will be remembered for the love she possessed for her family as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren, her church life, and also her joy in the outdoors and walking.

Surviving are: a son, David Michael Beals and his wife Vicky of Round O; two daughters, Kay Burkett and her husband Jeff of Walterboro and Cathy B. Hiers of Walterboro; and a brother, Olin Harvey Fralick, Jr. There are six grandchildren, Michelle Beals, Stephanie Beals, Courtney H. Barnwell and her husband Greg, Brenna Burkett, Brandy Burkett, and Brittany Burkett; and four great grandchildren, Matthew Beals, Brandon Beals, Caden Barnwell, and Easton Barnwell; as well as a brother-in-law, Donald Lake and his wife Irene ; and a sister-in-law, Peach Fralick Foster. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Daniel "Jackie" Fralick and a sister, Joyce Fralick Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to the following: First Baptist Church of Walterboro, Post Office Box 650, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Connie Maxwell Children's Home, Post Office Box 1178, Greenwood, South Carolina 29648.
