Doris Ann Zeigler Mincey

Mrs. Doris Ann Zeigler Mincey, 88, of Walterboro, entered into rest Tuesday morning, February 7, 2023, at Pruitt Health Care in Walterboro.   She was twice married, first to the late Mr. Oney Soard, Jr. and secondly to the late Jack Ross Mincey.

Born November 10, 1934, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Duncan Heyward Zeigler and the late Hazel Wright Zeigler Simmons.   She worked for many years as a book keeper for the Bank of Walterboro, having started at their original location on Main Street in Walterboro. Doris was a longtime member of Grace Advent Christian Church and will always be remembered for the love she had for tending to her flowers.

Surviving are: a son, David A. Soard and his wife Criss Ann of Walterboro; a daughter, Sharon Sawyer and her husband Mike of Islandton; two sisters, Brenda Z. Ritter McMillan and her husband H.M. of Walterboro and Janice Z. Starner and her husband Don of Columbia; a sister-in-law, Francis Zeigler of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren, Krystopher “Chaz” Soard, T.J. Polk, Marshall Davis, Christina Sawyer, and Matthew Sawyer; as well as seven great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond J. Zeigler; and dear friend, Mr. A.J. Campbell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, February 9, 2023, from Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.   The Reverend Wayne Lucas officiating.   Interment will follow in the churchyard.  The family receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 o’clock in the church sanctuary.
