Doris Comer Simpson, 81, of Walterboro, South Carolina, passed away Friday evening, October 16, 2020, at her residence.  Born August 4, 1939 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Mr. Johnnie Lewis Comer and the late Mrs. Ruby Hare Comer.  She was married for fifty-six years and one month to her husband, Mr. Richard Thomas Simpson.

Doris had a love for flowers.  She was known as a strong willed and independent woman; a great mother and loving wife.  Doris possessed an unconditional love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: sons, Lewis Lee Simpson (Tracey), of Florida; and Edward Lee Simpson (Angela), of Yemessee; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; she also is survived by a sister, Louis Deaton, of Colorado.  She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee Simpson.

A Memorial service will be conducted 2 o’clock Friday evening, October 23, 2020, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends following the service.
