Mrs. Doris Murdaugh Jones, 85, of 8258 Lodge Highway, Lodge, died Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009, at her residence under the care of Palmetto Hospice of Bamberg following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2009, from Lodge United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born November 11, 1923, in Lodge, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Hay Murdaugh and the late Viola Padgett Murdaugh. She was a member of Lodge United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her unconditional love of her husband and family. She loved fishing; as well as working the family farm and tending to her garden and flowers. She will also be fondly recalled for her passion of talking to her friends.
Surviving are: her husband of sixty-five years, Mr. Francis C. Jones; her son, Mickey Jones and his wife Linda of Lodge; three grandchildren, Michelle Jones Kinsey and her husband Tony, Mitch Jones, and Christy Jones; and two great grandchildren, Josh Kinsey and Ashley Kinsey. There is one who was her dearest and best friend, Mrs. Lib Bennett that also survives. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Murdaugh and Rudolph Murdaugh; and two sisters, Nettie Murdaugh Kinard and Idalia Murdaugh Fralix.
