Mrs. Doris Ruth Freeman Drawdy, affectionately known to everyone as “Dot”, 85, of Brunson, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, November 21, 2023, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Jack Marvin Drawdy.
Born November 29, 1937, in Beaufort, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Hamilton Freeman and Nellie Riddick Freeman. She was a member of the Spirit of Life Ministries. Mrs. Dot loved crocheting, sewing and cooking, and was especially known for her pound cakes, which were her specialty. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and shopping. Before her husband passed away, they enjoyed fishing and going on many camping trips together. Most of all, she loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are: her children, Caryl Ulmer of Hampton, Hank Drawdy and his wife Robin Rahn Drawdy of Brunson and Karen Cook and her husband Allen of Cummings; grandchildren, Allen Cook, Jr. (Courtney), Angie Ruth Crosby (Daniel), Brittany Cook, Brandy Ulmer (Chris), Christopher Ulmer, Noah Drawdy, Joshua Drawdy, and Elijah Drawdy; and 13 great grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Miracle Ulmer; her sister, Evon Necaise; and her brother, Carl T. “Bud” Freeman.
Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, November 24, 2023, at Spirit of Life Ministries, Varnville. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Pocotaligo Road, Varnville.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Friday morning from 10 am until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
