Dora Behling

Mrs. Dora Lee Goodwin Behling, 81, of Smoaks, entered into eternal rest Sunday, February 21, 2021 at her residence.

Born November 20, 1939 in Bamberg, she was a daughter of the late John C. Goodwin, Sr. and Dora Smith Goodwin.  She was a retired receptionist for her husbands’ optometry practice, Dr. W.E. Behling Optometry, in St. George.  She had also worked as a nurse in Allendale.  She loved crocheting and took great pride in the blankets she crocheted for her loved ones.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

Surviving are: her husband of 57 years, Dr. William Eldridge Behling, Sr. of Smoaks; sons, William Eldridge Behling, Jr. of Lincolnton, Georgia, David F. Behling of Smoaks, and Lee S. Behling and his wife Andrea of Smoaks; brother, John C. “Coke” Goodwin, Jr, and his wife Dorothy of Camden; and two granddaughters, Faith A. Behling and Paisley E. Behling.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Fountain.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Little Swamp United Methodist Church, 17465 Hunters Chapel Road, Smoaks.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
