Don Miller

Mr. Terry Don Miller, 81, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  He was the husband of the late Jessie Breland Miller.

Born October 17, 1941, in Colquitt, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Jefferson Miller and the late Essie Hornsby Miller.  Don graduated from Miller County High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and Georgia Southern University.  He worked for the United States Treasury as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bossier City, Louisiana.  In addition, he worked for thirty years as a hospital and long-term care administrator in various facilities in Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.  Don enjoyed working and possessed a strong work ethic.  After retiring in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, he worked as a realtor and also worked with The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Homes.   He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro, where he was a deacon and a member of the choir.  Don was an excellent craftsman who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and fishing.

He is survived by daughters Terri Miller Stefanou and her husband Alex, and Sherri Miller Newberry and her husband Mike; stepson Andy C. Spell and his wife Erica; grandchildren Michaelyn Newberry Ray, Nicholas Stefanou, Michael Stefanou, and Ethan Stefanou; and great-grandchild Charlie Ray.   He was preceded in death by his siblings Harvard Miller, Andy Miller, Joe Miller, Bo Miller, JoAnn Miller Lamp, and Doris Miller Donaldson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am February 4, 2023, from the graveside at Black Creek Baptist Church, 4931 Black Creek Road, Walterboro. Pastor Michael Loftin of Academy Baptist Church will be officiating.
