Mr. Donald Ray Edwards, Jr., affectionately known to everyone as “Porkchop”, 71, of Reevesville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024, at his residence.
Born August 1, 1953, in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Donald Ray Edwards, Sr. and Betty Turnbull Edwards. Don was formerly a patrolman with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, before going to work for Blue Circle Cement. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at Neil Rickborn’s store, loved riding his motorcycle, and especially loved making everyone laugh. He loved his family more than anything else in the world…with the exception of a cold Busch, room temperature Busch, and Harley Davidson’s.
Surviving are: his wife of 40 years, Cindy Harlan Edwards of Reevesville; children, Mary Ellen McGrew (Daniel) of Summerville, Rianne Edwards-Salley (Marty) of Ladson, Melanie Griffith (Ron) of St. George, and Michael Shane Karpinen (Stacy) of Charleston; grandchildren, Courtney Ann Rogers, Bryce Garrett Holmes, Abigail Shane Holmes, Tanner Reed Karpinen, Ashley Elizabeth Marchant, Emily Nichole Marchant, and Miranda Lindsey Salley; great grandchildren, Huntlee Boykin Rogers, Berklee Durham Rogers, William Rhett Kappler, and Brady Marshall Hawes; and his sister, Carol Edwards Summey of Barnwell. He was preceded in death by his brother and sisters, Barbara Williams, Timothy Edwards, and Trina Reynolds.
