Mr. D. C. Beheler, 85, of Middleburg, Florida, a former longtime resident of Ehrhardt, entered into his state of eternal rest Friday morning, July 2, 2010, at the Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 oclock Monday afternoon, July 5, 2010, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Ehrhardt. Interment with military honors as provided by the United States Army will follow in the churchyard.
Mr. Beheler was born June 16, 1925, in Barnwell, South Carolina and was a son of the late Doctor Clayton Beheler and the late Geneva Gibson Beheler. He served his country faithfully during World War II in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 as a Private First Class. His time in service awarded him with the EAME Service Medal with two bronze service stars, the good conduct medal, and the World War II victory medal, but his most distinguished award was the Purple Heart he was decorated with due to injuries sustained in service. He was a carpenter by trade and retired from Dravo Construction. He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Millwrights of America.
Surviving are: his wife of sixty-two years, Mrs. Dorothy Fender Beheler; two daughters, Gayle Willis and her husband Richard of Sardis, Alabama and Cathy Butler and her husband Bill of Middleburg, Florida; a son, Rich Beheler of Chandler, Indiana; and a sister, Frances Minard and her husband George of Desoto, Wisconsin. There are four grandchildren, Andy Butler and his wife Tina of Middleburg, Florida, Michael Butler of Middleburg, Florida, Blake Willis of Selma, Alabama, and Sommer Pugh and her husband Chris of Clanton, Alabama; and three great grandchildren, Nikki Hanson, Devin Butler, and Steven Butler all of Middleburg, Florida.
