Devan James Jarvis, 27, of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday evening, February 13, 2014, from injuries sustained during an automobile accident in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, February 17, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend David Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Highway 61 near Canadays.
Born May 12, 1986, a native of Colleton County, he was a son of James Van Buren Jarvis and Sue Lyne Bailey Cothran. Devan was known as a comedian and fun loving person who devoted his life to providing care to others. In his high school years, he was active in the NJROTC program at Walterboro High School.
Surviving in addition to his father of Santee and his mother of Walterboro are: two brothers, Jared Dee Jarvis of Ruffin and Logan McCray Hiott of Walterboro; and two sisters, Leaj Jarvis Price and her husband Eric of Birmingham, Alabama, and McKenzie Marion Cothran of Walterboro. He is also survived by his grandparents, Arliss Dee Jarvis and his wife Loretta of Walterboro and Mildred Fay Jarvis of Charleston, a father figure, Gregory Dwayne Hiott, and a nephew, Gavin Price as well as several cousins.
