Mr. Dean Gabriel Nelson, 51, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Monday afternoon, September 29, 2025, at Colleton Medical Center.
Born November 23, 1973, in Cottageville, he was a son of Catherine Spurr Nelson and the late Dean Kenneth Nelson. He was the owner and operator of Edisto Plumbing and was a well-known plumber in the Charleston area. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman and especially loved boating on the Edisto River. He was a member of the CB radio group Lowcountry Mud Ducks and his handle was “Knotman 953”. He loved cooking and feeding everyone, but most of all, loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife, Erin McGlynn Nelson of Cottageville; his mother, Catherine Nelson of Cottageville; sons, Joshua Nelson (Taylor Crosby), Matthew Nelson, and Jackson Nelson, all of Cottageville; grandchildren, Luna Nelson, Dean Nelson, and Hazel Nelson; sisters, Kristie Barton (James) of Summerville, Kimberlie Hutson of Cottageville, and Sarah Nelson-Poirier (Derrick) of Walterboro; his beloved Boston Terriers, Trixie, Dottie, Ziggy, and Zoey-who was his baby; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as his CB family and Edisto River family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Cottageville Community Methodist Church Food Bank.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 o’clock, Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Cottageville Community Methodist Church, 44 Peirce Road, Cottageville. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service.
