Dean Elkins, Sr.

Mr. Roy Dean Elkins, Sr., 78, of Round O, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Summerville Community Hospice House surrounded by his always dedicated and dependable son.  He was the husband of the late Catherine Hiott Elkins.

Born September 30, 1942 in Aiken, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Robert Broadus Elkins and Ruby Richardson Elkins.  He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Dean was a retired Parts Manager with VanLott, Inc.  He was a member of Welch Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are: his son, Roy Dean Elkins, Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Walterboro; daughter, Teresa Orr; grandchildren, Michael Dean Elkins, Savanna Lee Elkins, Robbie Griffin, Mark Day, Jr., Misty Day, and Jamie Lee McAlister; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Griffin and Tyler Barnes; a niece he loved as a daughter, Peggy Rodgers; brother, Bobby Elkins and his wife Patti of Summerville; and sisters, Dot Evans of Summerville and Connie Campbell of Ravenel.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Woods and Vivian Keller.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Welch Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with The Reverend Jack Moore and Pastor James Baker officiating.
