Mr. Monroe Dean Connelly, 78, of Green Pond Highway, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday, February 5, 2012 at the Hospice Center of Charleston.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, February 10, 2012, at Doctor's Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Connelly was born January 28, 1934 in Augusta, Georgia and was a son of the late Joseph Franklin Connelly and Mary Breland Connelly. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the Department of Defense. He served his country faithfully in the US Navy and retired from the US Air Force Reserves, 315th Maintenance Squadron MAW in 1994. He was an active member of Doctor's Creek Baptist Church for 69 years, where he was the Chairman of the Cemetery Committee, member of the Furman Berry Sunday School Class, member of the History Committee, former Chairman of Deacons, and former RA Leader. Mr. Connelly was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a former member of the John C. Calhoun Academy Booster Club.

Surviving are: his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Thompson Connelly of Walterboro; children, Ronny Connelly (Shjuanna) of Walterboro and Kristi Mumford (Erich) of Windermere, Florida; brother, William Dawson Connelley of San Antonio, TX; sisters, Mary Anne Cucinelli (Tony) of West Palm Beach, Florida and Norma Stone of Orangeburg; and grandchildren, Andrew Connelly and Jordan and Jackson Mumford. He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony "Tony" Dean Connelly.
