David Stanley

Mr. David Stanley, 66, of Sheldon, was called home to Heaven, Monday, October 28, 2013.

Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Friday, November 1, 2013 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Stanley was born April 30, 1947 in Hampton and was a son of the late Bill and Catherine Stanley. He was an employee of Bray’s Island Plantation for 28 years and was also a farmer who sold produce at the Beaufort County Farmer’s Market. He was a member of the Church of God in Hardeeville and served his country in the National Guard.

Surviving are: his wife of 14 years, Gail Edwards Stanley of Sheldon, South Carolina; 3children, David Frankie Stanley and his wife MaryAnn of Sheldon, South Carolina, Julie Stanley Mellen and her husband Randy of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Jody Stanley and his wife Tammy of Rossville, Georgia; 2 step children, Steven Youmans of Varnville, South Carolina and Angela Hadwin of Varnville, South Carolina; brothers, William Stanley of Norfolk, Virginia and Woody Stanley of Sally, South Carolina; sister, Mary Nunnally of DeWitt, Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 6 step great grandchildren; a longtime friend of the family, Mr. Sumner Pingree of Bray’s Island, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Walls Stanley.
