David John Scott, 85, of Hanahan, entered into eternal rest Saturday afternoon, July 6, 2024, at the Veteran’s Victory House. Born February 21, 1939, in Britt, Iowa, he was a son of the late Joseph A. Scott and Lorraine M. Gelner Scott.
Mr. Scott was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he was an Airman, 2nd Class and served as an Operating Room Specialist. He received his bachelor’s degree and became the first male RN to graduate from Iowa Central Community College. He spent fifteen years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Roswell, New Mexico, before moving on to spend ten more years as a travel nurse.
He will forever be remembered by his son, Jerald “Jerry” Scott and his wife Erin of Mount Pleasant; brothers, Jerry Scott of Des Moines, Iowa, and Roy Scott of Elgin, Illinois; sisters, Vicky Groat of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Gloria Van Arsdale of Richland, Washington; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his daughter, April Scott; and a brother, Jay Scott.
Services will be private.
