David Grooms

Mr. David Vernie Grooms, 60, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 3, 2022 at Summerville Medical Center.

Born February 11, 1962 in Summerville, he was a son of Joyce Reeves Grooms and the late Vernie Grooms.  He was a retired carpenter.  He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing.  David was always known as the “big boy” on the block and was always up for a good challenge.  He enjoyed big family dinners, liked to cook, and most of all, loved being surrounded by his family and friends.

Surviving are: his mother, Joyce Grooms of Adams Run; children, Nikki Grooms of Adams Run, Diana Benton of Walterboro, Lindsey Grooms of Summerville, and Austin Grooms of Summerville; sister, Brenda Dandridge of Summerville; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Ann Smoak and Melva Jane Grooms; and one brother, Tracy “Buck” Grooms.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, October 9, 2022 at Reeves Cemetery at Levington Bluff in Adams Run.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 o’clock at the cemetery.
