Daniel Joseph Meranto, affectionately known by all as D.J., age 23, of 1192 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, died Sunday morning, September 28, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Walterboro.



Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Thursday afternoon, October 2, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Doctors Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 126 Doctors Creek Road, Walterboro.



D.J. was born June 25, 1985, in Charleston, South Carolina and was a son of Anthony Joseph Meranto and Georgia Floyd GiGi Stanfield. He was a member of Troop No. 686 of Boy Scouts of America, and will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing.



Surviving in addition to his mother and step-father, James M. Stanfield of Walterboro and his father of Bush, Louisiana are: seven sisters, Angela Irwin of Walterboro, Alesha Meranto, Linzy Meranto, Kaylin Meranto, Rachel Meranto, Amanda Meranto all of Louisiana, and Melissa Harvey of Mississippi; two brothers, James M. Stanfield, II and his wife Amy of Walterboro and Charles James Stanfield of Walterboro; paternal grandmother, Bernadette Meranto of Bush, Louisiana; and his aunt, Julie Lawson of Walterboro. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Terrie Nicole Self of Walterboro and her children, Natalie Bowers, Katelynn Creel, and Kevin Sloan, Jr., as well as two nieces, Miranda Avery and Sarah Stanfield; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Georgia Floyd; and an uncle Billy Floyd, Jr.
