Mr. Daniel Ryan Crosby, age 20, of Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, May 6, 2012, at his residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. He left this world with joy in his heart and with great anticipation of meeting our Lord, Jesus the Christ.
A celebration of his life of service and love will be conducted 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, May 9, 2012, from Grace Advent Christian Church, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro with The Reverend Wayne Lucas and The Reverend Donald Blake officiating. Interment will follow on the family plot at Adnah United Methodist Churchyard, Adnah Church Road, Islandton.
Daniel was born October 27, 1991, in Walterboro, and was a son of Lisa Adams Benton and the late Stanley Edwin Crosby, Jr. He was a 2010 graduate of Colleton County High School and was a member of Canady's First Baptist Church. He possessed a great love for animals having had the dream of becoming a veterinarian following high school. Daniel was like most his age, and while growing up enjoyed and participated in t-ball, baseball, and football. It was no secret, Daniel was an avid South Carolina Gamecock fan; and he will always be remembered for the smile he always had on his face, the joy he found in babies and others, and for never allowing the challenges of his life to overcome the person God created him to be.
Surviving are: his mother, Lisa and her companion Ricky Beach of Walterboro; his step-father, Dexter Benton of Walterboro; his step-mother, Jennifer Stanfill Crosby or Round O; two brothers, Troy Murdaugh and Cameron Crosby both of Walterboro; two sisters, Kristie Crosby of Walterboro and Courtney Crosby of Round O; and a niece, Haylee Ryan Carroll. He is also survived by his grandparents, Stanley and Dorothy W. Crosby of Smoaks, Dottie Zeigler Crosby of Walterboro, Doris Benton of Walterboro, Harry and Paula Hiott Stanfill of Walterboro, Vernon Stanley of Early Branch, and Paul and Tootsie Beach of Walterboro; as well as great grandparents, Shorty and Marie Crosby of Smoaks, Mildridge Zeigler of Elloree, and Edward and Margaret Walicki of Walterboro. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Brenda M. Rast; and great grandparents, Mamie Lou Butler and Charlie Benton.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice Care of South Carolina for the love and care they provided along with the many hugs they shared with Daniel in his final days.
