Dan David Long

Dan David Long, 87, of Estill entered into rest Monday evening, January 12, 2026 at his residence.

Born in Furman, SC to Henry Framp Long and Addie Lee DeLoach Long on June 1, 1938.

After Serving in the United States Air Force, he moved back to South Carolina where he worked many years for Bostick Tire. He retired from the SC Department of Corrections in June of 2000.

He is remembered by many in the community as they patroned the Longs Grocery Store in Nixville. He was a member of Nixville Baptist Church.

He was one of many that helped establish the Nixville Fire Department in 1984. Also a member of the American Legion Post 108, and the Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Southern NJ.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Ann Main Long of 37 years.

Survived by his daughters, Cheryl Eles (Laci), Debbie L Phillips (Eddie), Margaret Bain, Sons: Mike Varnadoe and Pete Varnadoe of Fairfax. Grandchildren, Jay Bishop, TJ Bishop (Renee), Crystal Seckinger (Jared), Toni Graves (Justin), Lindsey Moser (Evan), Ashley Barnes (Josh), Danny Varnadoe (Melissa). Brother, Clayton Long (Ellen)

And a host of great grands and nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by a sister, Anna Lee Breland, Brothers, Francis Long, Jimmy Long, Raymond O’Neal, Sons, Jerry Varnadoe, Bobby Varnadoe and granddaughter, Jamie Varnadoe and great granddaughter, Ashton Kelly Smith.
