Damen Hiers

Damen Storm Hiers, age 3, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 30, 2023.

Born January 7, 2020, in Colleton County, he was the son of Shanon Storm Hiers and Alicia Marie Truax. Damen, who was lovingly called “Mini Hero” by his mother, was a little ray of sunshine who was bold, intelligent, intuitive, and loving.

All he knew was friends, and was everybody’s best friend. Every time you saw him, you learned something new. Damen was genius who loved to learn and could teach you everything he knew about trains, tractors, heavy equipment, shapes, and he would always tell you what time it was since he always had a watch on. He loved to sing at the top of his lungs, and always sang himself to sleep. Damen was greatly loved by anyone who had the honor of meeting him. His radiant and infectious smile made a significant impact on many.

Surviving are his father, Shanon Storm Hiers of Walterboro; his mother, Alicia Marie Truax of Hazlehurst, Georgia; his siblings, Noah Jackson and Liam Jackson; his grandmothers, Sabra Horton and her spouse Marvin of Walterboro, and Dawn Walker of Hazlehurst, Georgia; grandfathers, William Hiers, Sr. and his spouse Wendy of Lumberton, Marcus Truax, Sr. and his spouse Barbie of Hazlehurst, Georgia; a great-grandmother, Christina Spence of Hazlehurst, Georgia; his aunts, Ashley Hiers of Wauchula, Florida, Samra West and her husband Richard of Daytona Beach, Florida, Brandie Grant and her husband Theron of Islandton, Ciara Shong and her husband Alec of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his uncles, Riley Hiers, Jr. of Wauchula, Florida, and Marcus Truax, Jr. of Hazlehurst, Georgia; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held 4 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, January 14, 2024, at the Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro, with Pastor Shawn Dowers officiating. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
