Mrs. Clio Hoff Benton, 91, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, December 10, 2022. She was the wife of the late Mr. H. W. Benton.
Born August 25, 1931, in Cottageville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Russell Hoff and the late Minnie Gertrude Hoff. She was a longtime member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Walterboro, where over the years she was active in many areas of the church’s work. She was truly a Southern lady and the epitome of a devoted mother, supporting her family in all that they did and working alongside her daughter at Curves in Walterboro.
Surviving are: her daughter, Janice Benton Culpepper and her husband Edward of Cottageville; four grandchildren, Lucius Culpepper (Kelly), Rachel C. McGhie (Ryan), Jason Benton (Anna) and Lindsey Benton; seven great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Hoff; as well as three nieces. She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Kent Benton; and her three brothers, George Walter Hoff, Thomas Edward Hoff, and Russell Wilton Hoff.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Friday morning, December 16, 2022, from Edgewood Baptist Church, 138 Wildwood Drive, Walterboro. The Reverend Rodney Lyons officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro.
