Mr. Clarence Edward Risher, Sr. affectionately known by many as “Catfish”, age 66, entered into rest Monday evening, November 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at his home on Risher Mountain Road, Walterboro while under the care of Gentiva Hospice. He was the loving husband of forty-two years to the late Mrs. Wanda Mae Crosby Risher at the time of her death in 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted, 11 o’clock Saturday morning, November 7, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Bells Highway, Walterboro.
He was born May 20, 1949, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Benjamin Leroy Risher and the late Clara Mahaffey Risher. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until 1975 during the time of the Vietnam Conflict. He was the founder and operator of CER Trucking. He was a member of Evergreen Christian Church and also attended Victory Baptist Church. Clarence was a family man who devoted his life to the wants, needs, and desires of his family. Family, work, and drag racing his 1968 Camero were the greatest joys of his life
Surviving are: three children, Clarence Edward Risher, Jr. and his wife Melinda of Walterboro, Robert Ray Risher and his wife Amy of Walterboro, and Virginia Martin and her husband Ricky of Lodge; and a sister, Kathy Mixson and her husband Aaron of Walterboro. There are nine grandchildren; Wanda Gail Risher, Sassy Martin, Clarence E. Eddie Risher, III, Scooter Martin, Brittney Risher, Mariah Risher, Ratshot Martin, Rowdy Martin, and Cheyenne Weber as well as a very loved extended family to include Paul and Dina Crosby and Randy and Toni Mahaffey and their children Eric Mahaffey and Becca Lynn Mahaffey that also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Benjamin Roy “Plowboy” Risher.
