Mr. Clarence Riddick Hiers, 77, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, March 23, 2022, at Colleton Medical Center.
Born January 23, 1945, in Colleton County, he was the son of the late Govan Hiers and Ruby Crosby Hiers Turner. He was a retired auto mechanic, having worked for many years at Big-O in Walterboro. Clarence was always an outgoing person who had a bubbly personality, always had a smile on his face, and never met a stranger. He loved fishing, which was his favorite pastime, but also enjoyed playing cards and watching Monday night wrestling. He loved God and knew his Bible and enjoyed watching different preachers on tv. Most of all, Clarence was a loving husband, great dad, and loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: his wife, Donna Carter Coggins Hiers of Walterboro; children, Allen Coggins of Walterboro, Billy Coggins (Heidi) of Bamberg, Leith Willis of Walterboro, and Shelly Coggins (Tony Hoff) of Summerville; brother, Alton Hiers, Sr. of Ruffin; sister, Anna Murdaugh of Walterboro; special niece, Nancy Craven; nephews, William “Bill” Hiers and Alton Hiers, Jr.; and his grandchildren, Allen D. Coggins, II, Dillon Coggins, Brittany N. Coggins, Austin M. Coggins (Ciera), Chris L. Hoff, Destiny Crum, Nathaniel Stichcomb, Beth Stichcomb, and JJ Butts.
A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Hendersonville Baptist Church, 893 Bachelor Hill Road, Walterboro.
