Mrs. Clara Gerard Trippe, affectionately known as "Winnie", age 92, of Ruffin, entered into rest Saturday morning, May 17, 2014, at Heritage Health Care Center on Witsell Street in Walterboro. She was the widow of Mr. James A. Trippe.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, May 19, 2014, from the graveside at Smoak Family Cemetery, Cane Brach Road, Walterboro. The Reverend Gordon Ackerman officiating.
The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
Born October 31, 1921, a native of Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. Gerard and the late Ethel Fox Gerard. She retired from Smoaks Dress Plant as an under presser after twenty years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Walterboro Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was also a member of Community Chapter No. 2016 - Order of the Easter Star where she had served in the chair of Associate Conductress.
Surviving are: two daughters, Jan T. Evans and her husband Frank and Gaye T. McMillan and her husband Jerry all of Ruffin; five grandchildren, Scott Givens and his wife Jamie, Christie Ackerman Lawrence and her husband Troy, Jessica Evans, Haley E. McKinley and her husband Bryce, and Ashley Ackerman and his wife Brittani; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Valerie E. Kappes.
