Mr. Charles Lynwood Odom, II, affectionately known to everyone as “Chuck”, 51, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, June 2, 2020 at Summerville Community Hospice House.
Born on January 4, 1969 in Allendale, he was a son of Linda Jean Donehue Odom and Charles Lynwood “Bubba” Odom, Sr. Chuck served his country faithfully in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He entered the National Guard in 1986, right after high school, and served in the 202nd Calvary Unit in Beaufort until his retirement in 2006. He was a Civil Service Technician for FMS #14 in Varnville.
He was a member of Steep Bottom Baptist Church. He was a Past Master of Sunset Masonic Lodge #331 in Estill and a current member of Stafford Masonic Lodge #216 in Furman. Chuck loved salt water and enjoyed spending time on the boat. He loved music and was a true music trivia buff. Most of all, Chuck was a great husband, father, and “Pop” who loved his family, his friends, and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are: his wife of 31 years, Sheila Brown Odom of Varnville; mother, Linda Odom of Hampton; children, Mallorie Odom Lee (Brad) of Varnville and Charles L. “Chase” Odom, III (Madison) of Brunson; grandchildren, Olivia, Ellis Joan, and Charles L. “Cullen” Odom, IV; father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Viree Brown of Estill; brother-in-law, Robbie Brown (Felecia) of Estill; nephews, Tripp Brown and Bryon Brown; and a special cousin, Robin Rogers of Easley. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Courtney Leigh Odom.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, June 5, 2020 at Open Arms Fellowship, 402 Hoover Street North, Hampton. Interment with Full military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow in Varnville Cemetery. Everyone is invited to attend the service and it will live streamed through The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapels and Crematory Facebook page and website.
