Christine Mcalhaney

Mrs. Christine Zahler McAlhaney, 72, of Early Branch, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Blackville Healthcare and Rehab.  She was the widow of Hiram Quillie McAlhaney.

Born February 7, 1948 in Hampton, she was a daughter of George Wesley Zahler and Ada Youmans Zahler.  She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, attending faithfully until her health declined and for many years was a Sunday School teacher.  She loved taking care of children and working in daycares.  Most of all, she loved her family, her dogs, and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her children, Greg McAlhaney and his wife Suzanne of Gilbert and Sandy Thompson and her fiancé, Bill Crosby of Brunson; grandchildren, Tori Thompson, Tristan Thompson, and AnaBeth Thompson; sister, Louise Nichols and her husband Kenny; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Zahler; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Zahler; and a sister, Mavis Roberts and her husband Richard.

Funeral services will be held 9 o’clock, Thursday morning, July 30, 2020 at Grace Baptist Church, 2862 Bamberg Highway, Hampton.  The Reverend Don Davis and The Reverend Kenny Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow in Zahler Cemetery.
