Charline Canady

August 16, 1961 — March 29, 2026

Walterboro, South Carolina

Mrs. Charline Maria Welch Canady, 64, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, at her residence.

Born August 16, 1961, in Florence, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Willie Layton Welch and Erma Louise Johnson Welch. Charline was always a hard worker and held many jobs in her community including waitressing, convenience store worker and managed many of them as well. She had worked for Sears as a sales representative and for many years was a parts specialist at AutoZone. Lastly, she worked for Walmart as a housewares department manager and night stocker and made some great friends there.

Charline loved people and had a heart of gold. She always helped anyone she could. She was strong-willed and a fighter who never gave up, even until the very end. Charline loved going to the beach, spending time with her family, going to church to worship her Lord, and loved the Lord with all her heart. More than anything, she adored her children and grandchildren who were her world. She had a laugh and a contagious smile like no other, always sure to light every room. She will be greatly missed but forever loved and in our hearts.

Surviving are: her husband of 40 years, Harry L. Canady, Jr. of Walterboro; children, Jessica L. Johnson and her husband Buck of Walterboro and Robert B. Canady of Walterboro; grandchildren, Lacey Stanley (Lance), Lindsey Barnes (Jamie), Kaylie Barnes, and Robert Johnson; siblings, Willie Layton Welch, Jr., Sammy Welch, and Bessie L. Welch Brown, all of Sumter; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Allen Welch; and her mother-in-law, Nancy Lyons Smith who loved Charline as her own daughter and Charline considered her second mom.

The family would like to especially thank her team from Agape Hospice: Karen Vraven, Terri Sharpe, Blane Padgett, Adrienne Land Craven, Rebecca Herndon, and Patricia Lee; two of her former nurses with Amedysis Hospice: Heather DeLong and Kristen King; and lastly but certainly not least, her nurses from Your Health (formerly South Carolina House Calls), Glovenia Michelle Spires and Kristina Walker Johnson. Without the hearts these ladies possess this world certainly would be much worse. We thank you for all the loving and tender care you gave Charline during the long period of declining health as well as the knowledge and special touch that each one of you brought with you. You will never know how great a help you were or your impact on our lives. May God bless you all.
