Charles Melvin O’Bryant, 77, of Walterboro, entered into rest peacefully, Saturday evening, February 5, 2022 at Trident Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 30, 1944 in Abbeville, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Egbert William (E.W.) O’Bryant and Ruby Head O’Bryant. He served his country faithfully as a medic in the United States Army. He also worked with JP Stevens and Georgia Pacific. He was a member and Governor of the Walterboro Moose Lodge. Charles was also Moose Legion President of Moose Legion Swamp Fox No. 74. He loved deer hunting, watching football and westerns. He was a number one Gamecock fan. But most of all, he loved his family and friends.
Surviving are: his wife of 44 years, Diane Payne O’Bryant of Walterboro; children, Keith O’Bryant and his wife Diane of Spartanburg, Jeff O’Bryant and his wife Christy of Clinton, Detra Faulkner and her husband Jim of Anderson, Rainette Epperson and her husband Jeff of Columbia, Hope Youmans Creel and her husband Tommy of Walterboro and Charles Wallace “Bubba” O’Bryant and his wife Tara of Walterboro; grandchildren, Matt O’Bryant, Kyle O’Bryant, Eric O’Bryant (Jessica), Terrell Hathcock, Jr., Nikki Lenzen, Bailey Epperson, Justin Epperson, Dillon Youmans (Delana), Sydney Rae Beach Aquino (Nelson), Brittany Willis, Michael Marrero, Jr., William “Will” O’Bryant, and Preston Clark; great grandchildren, Areya O’Bryant, Harrison O’Bryant, Londyn O’Bryant, Mikalyn Cubbage, Saylor Cubbage, Erica Smith, Lexie Smith, Lillian Prather, SkylaAnne Hathcock, Terrell Hathcock, III, Waylon Earl Aquino, and Zoey Aquino; brother, Billy O’Bryant and his wife Wanda; mother-in-law, Mary Christine Payne; sister-in-law, Vickie Tripp and her husband Danny; longtime friend, Ricky Broderick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry O’Bryant; sister, Barbara Watson; and father-in-law, Raymond “Bubba” Payne.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Thursday afternoon, February 10, 2022 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
