Mr. Charles Palmer Grossie, Sr., affectionately known by many as "Chuck" age 68, of Ruffin, South Carolina, the husband of Mrs. Darthy Cash Grossie entered into his eternal rest Friday morning, June 17, 2011, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be held 3 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2011 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will be held at 11 o'clock, Thursday morning, June 23, 2011 at Beaufort National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Wednesday at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, SC 29488; 843.538.5408.
Mr. Grossie was born September 21, 1942, Jacksonville, Florida, and was a son of Edmond Esra Alexander Grossie and Nellie Mae Ayers Love. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a vendor in the produce business for most of his life. He was of the Christian faith.
Surviving are: children, Bonnie Ruiz, Brenda Girard, Edmond Grossie, and Barbara Pellum; brother, Gerald Grossie; two sisters, Linda Halmark and Sharon Bunton; and fourteen grandchildren.
