Mr. Charles Richard Carson, Sr., 80, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, March 28, 2026, at his residence. He was first married to the late Sylvia Bazzle Carson and secondly to the late Betty Erwin Carson.
Born April 3, 1945, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Fred Carson, Jr. and Helen Catherine Dean Carson. He served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Charles was a retired supervisor for Georgia Pacific and owned and operated C&S Pallets. He was a compassionate, selfless hardworking man who dearly loved his family.
Surviving are: his children, Charles Richard Carson, Jr. and his wife Bridgett of Ruffin, Sherri Lynette Smoak and her husband Donald of Ruffin, Stacy Michelle Carter and her husband Jeremy of Hendersonville, and Jon Brandon Carson and his wife Michelle of Leicester, North Carolina; grandchildren, Donald Bradley Smoak, Taylor Lynette Smoak Figueroa and her husband Nick, and Gracelee Wynn Carter; great grandchildren, Scarlett Figueroa, Gunner Elijiah Figueroa, and Scout Burke Figueroa; sisters, Jeanette Mizzell of St. George and Kitty Faskey of Lyons, Georgia; and his caretaker that he loved as a daughter, Kathy Little. In addition to Sylvia and Betty, he was preceded in death by his companion, Patricia Evans; his sister, Shirley Canady and her husband Talmadge; and brother-in-law, Wayne Faskey.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
