Ms. Carrie R. Bysshop, 82, of Hampton, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, January 15, 2024, at Caroline’s Cottage Hospice House in Ridgeland.
Carrie was born October 23, 1941, at Bull Point and was the daughter of the late Jeter Bishop and Fannie Wiggins Bishop. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School and retired from Westinghouse as an Inspector. She was a member of Hampton Christian church. She was a charter member and instrumental in reopening Oak Grove Baptist Church in Grays and well as New Life in Christ Church in Early Branch.
Carrie loved to study her Bible and teach anyone she could the word of God. She loved playing the piano, the organ, the accordion, and singing gospel music. She also loved gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, working with her flowers and making many different crafts.
Surviving are: her sons, Timothy Farris of Hendersonville, Walter Farris of Early Branch, and David Farris of Missouri; grandchildren, Nikki Gibson, Malynda Farris, Haley Farris Free and Walker Farris; sister, Ruby Smith of Early Branch; and a special friend, Randy Jennings of Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fletcher Bishop, Reynold Bishop, Archie Bishop, Cecil Bishop, Edward Bishop, and J. Warren Bishop.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, January 20, 2024, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Chapel, Varnville. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service. Carrie will be interred privately at Deep Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
