Mrs. Carolyn Smith Wilson, 89, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 20, 2016 at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. She was first married to the late John W. Smith and secondly to the late Robert W. Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery.
Born May 27, 1926 in Barnwell, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence Morningstar and Lucille Parker Morningstar. She graduated from Ehrhardt High School and Hurst Business College in Augusta, Georgia. She was the first Director of the Bamberg County Office on Aging, having retired in 1990. She was an active member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School and Training Union teacher, choir member, Sunbeam and GA Leader, and member of the WMU. She served as Church Treasurer for nine years and was one of three Deaconesses to serve the church. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family, her church family and her friends. She will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart, always doing whatever she could to help others.
Surviving are: her children, Judy S. Brown and her husband Russell of Ehrhardt, Faye S. Brown and her husband Michael of Bamberg, and John W. Smith and his wife Donna of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Jennifer B. Sullivan, Russell E Brown, Scott Brown, Todd Brown, Trey Smith and Chris Smith; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen M. Hallex and Lucille M. Waters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ehrhardt Baptist Church; or to Ehrhardt Cemetery.
