Carolyn Strickland

Ms. Carolyn Bowers Strickland, 67, of Furman, died, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her sisters residence.



Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Cemetery.



Ms. Strickland was born November 28, 1943 in Hampton and was a daughter of the late Sidney Bowers and Lillian Jarrell Bowers. She lived and worked most of her life in Columbia and returned home in her later years. After returning home, she worked as a cashier at Nickel Pumpers in Estill. She was a member of Steep Bottom Baptist Church.



Surviving are: her sisters, Shirley Way of Furman, Barbara Murphy of Lexington, Ruth Walker of Barnwell and Libby Owens of Gaston; brothers, Rudolph Bowers of Lena, Willie Bowers of Varnville and Carl Bowers of Springfield, GA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Strickland; and a sister, Jeanette Murdaugh.



The family would like to thank Sanctuary Hospice for the tender and loving care they provided to Mrs. Carolyn.
