Mrs. Carolyn Ricketson Marchant, 80, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Sunday afternoon, November 24, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Roland Marchant to whom she was married 50 years.
Born June 23, 1944, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Leo Ricketson and Essie Mae Smoak Ricketson. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Canaan Baptist Church and touched hundreds of children’s lives as a Preschool Sunday School Teacher. Carolyn was an excellent quilter and made countless quilts with love for her family and friends. She was devoted to her family, always doing everything she could for them. More than anything, she was faithful through her illness and all of the trials of life, always showing patience and telling everyone of the love of God.
Surviving are: her four daughters, Sherry Marchant Gilbert (Josh) of Spokane, Washington, Kristy Marchant Dryden (Wayne) of Walterboro, Stacy Marchant Kloppel (Kenric) of Walterboro, and Malia Carol Marchant (Steve) of Walterboro; brother, Charlie Ricketson (Beth) of Walterboro; sisters, Shirley Newcomb of Walterboro and Rosie Soderlund of Goose Creek; brother-in-law, Reverend Joe Marchant; sister-in-law, Jewel Ricketson; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jake Ricketson; and sisters, Bennie Tapley and Marion Marchant.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Wednesday afternoon, November 27, 2024, at Canaan Baptist Church, Augusta Highway, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
The family requests that if you have a quilt made by Carolyn, please bring it to the funeral and cover the pews in her memory.
