Biography

Mrs. Carolyn Jean Hicks, 68, of Smoaks, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Colleton Medical Center. She was first married to the late Ernest McDaniel Myers and secondly to the late George Michael Hicks.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 pm, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Little Swamp United Methodist Church, Hunters' Chapel Road, Smoaks. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Mrs. Hicks was born May 23, 1943 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Woodrow H. Blume and Hattie Rebecca Carter Blume. She was a retired seamstress with Smoaks Manufacturing. She was a lifelong member of Little Swamp United Methodist Church, where she was active in all areas of the church's work. Mrs. Hicks centered her life around her church and cooking for her family, church family and friends. She also loved her animals and working with her flowers.

Surviving are: her children, Ernest Danny Myers of Smoaks and Brenda Myers Spell and her husband Neally of Smoaks; brothers, Joseph J. Blume of Ridgeville and James Franklin Blume of Goose Creek; sisters, Jo Ann Davis of Williams and Patsy Mae Blume Roberts of Statesboro, Georgia; and 3 grandchildren.
