Carole Hutchison

Walterboro, South Carolina

Mrs. Carole Elizabeth Hutchison, 87, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, August 1, 2022 at her residence.

Born March 24, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Virgil B. Fowler and Sarah Harn Fowler.  Mrs. Hutchison was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.  She loved to be involved in her church and church activities and had served as church secretary for several Charleston area churches.  She was an expert genealogist with a love for history, especially her family history.  She loved Danish teak decor, tulips, shopping, collecting genealogy books, and walking on the beach.  Mrs. Hutchison was infamous for her red velvet cake which she made from the recipe obtained from the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.  She also loved ceramics and being an assistant in her daughter’s store.  She was especially known for her nativity set.

Surviving are: her husband, Gary Allen Hutchison of Walterboro; daughter, Sheree E. Ciappa and her husband Michael of Greenville, South Carolina; granddaughter, Megan Marie Hutchison; and sisters, Joyce Dunn and Gayla Cavanagh.  She was preceded in death by her son, Mark D. Hutchison.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, August 6, 2022 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 403 Church Street, Walterboro.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 o’clock.
