Mrs. Carol Mixson Lane, 59, of 6740 Bells Highway, Ruffin, entered into rest Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2013, at the Bon Secours Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2013, from Community Baptist Church, 15943 Bells Highway, Lodge. Pastor Jonathan Mixson and Pastor Sammy Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Community Baptist Cemetery, Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.
Born December 1, 1953, a native of Hampton County, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Willard Mixson and the late Sarah Freeman Mixson. She made Colleton County her home for the past fifty years. For many years, she was a teacher at Calvary Christian School, where she enriched the lives of many students through education having taught Primary and Kindergarten classes. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Community Baptist Church where she was the church organist and was affectionately loved and known by the children of the church as Mrs. Granny. Carol was also a private pilot, having once owned her own plane. She will be fondly remembered for the devotion she had to her husband and family, and for the loving and kind spirit she possessed, always willing to serve where she was needed.
Surviving are: her husband of forty-three years, Mr. Joe Michael Mike Lane; three sons, Cassidy Lane and his wife Chasity of Walterboro, Timothy J. Lane and his wife Rebecca of Ruffin, and Matthew Will Lane and his wife Colleen of Islandton; and three sisters, Jean Herndon and her husband Randall, Sherry McMillan and her husband Edward, and Connie Hammond all of Walterboro. There are ten grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Taylor, English, Jacob, Nathan, Ryan, Ashlynn, Jordan, and Mason that also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Mixson; and three sisters, Grace Kinard, Wanda Lamb, and LaTrelle Ramsey.
