Carol F. Hermann, 75, of Walterboro, was unexpectedly called to her eternal home on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Carol was born January 5, 1949, in Hudson, Ohio to the late Caroline (nee Wurster) and Willard F. Stewart.

Educated in the schools of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Carol excelled in her studies as an honor graduate and as a violinist in the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony.  She furthered her education earning a BS in biology from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio and a Masters in Forestry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.  While attending Duke, Carol met her future husband, Gary Hermann.

Carol found her Savior early in life and upon moving to Walterboro became a member and very active at Bethel United Methodist Church; teaching two Sunday School Classes and serving on the Worship, Finance, and Fellowship Committees.  She also belonged to the Lula Glover Circle.

Often, she could be found working in the yard with her flowers and other plants and supporting Mount Union College Football and her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.  She also liked vacationing in the Shenandoah Valley, at the beach, traveling to historical venues, and spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her parents, Carol is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary Hermann, her son Karl Hermann (Meghan) of Alexandria, Virginia, grandchildren Reagan Katherine and Rowan Joseph, siblings Bruce (Becky) Stewart of Centerburg, Ohio, and Heather (Tom) Kijowski of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.

The Relatives and Friends of the Hermann family are invited to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Carol F. Hermann which will be held at 11 o’clock, Thursday morning, January 18, 2024, from Bethel United Methodist Church, 355 Hampton Street, Walterboro.  The Reverend Dr. Scott Wachter officiating.  Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
