Mrs. Carol Jean Nelson Ackerman, 67, of 2624 Deryl Street, North Charleston, died Saturday evening, October 18, 2008, at her residence under the care of Hospice of Charleston.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Tuesday afternoon, October 21, 2008, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Hughes Cemetery in Cottageville.
Mrs. Ackerman was born August 12, 1941, in Wimbledon, North Dakota and was a daughter of the late Milford Nelson and the late Lorraine Gregory Nelson. For many years she worked as a Pharmacy Technician in the Charleston Area; and together, her husband and she owned and operated Palmetto Chimney Sweeps. She was of the United Methodist Faith and had attended River Bluff Baptist Church. She loved collecting angels but will be most remembered by everyone for the love she possessed for her family, always centering her life around her family.
Surviving are: her loving husband of forty-seven years, Mr. James William Jim Ackerman; a daughter, Lori Ann Roten and her husband Bill of Ladson; two sons, James Allan Ackerman and his wife Kelly of North Charleston and Brad Anderson and his wife Marla of Grand Forks, North Dakota; a sister, Donna Nelson Peterson and her husband Robert of Wimbledon, North Dakota; and an Aunt, Anna Bell Schrodt of Las Cruz, New Mexico. There are four grandchildren, Daniel Ackerman, Bryan Roten, Katy Roten, and Ashley Krom; one great grandchild on the way; several cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as their beloved Little Missy that also survive.
