Thomas Carlisle Kinard, 86, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, September 21, 2026, at his residence.

Born April 26, 1940, in Ehrhardt, he was the son of the late Ervin C. Kinard and Adina Kinard Mears. Carlisle served his country in the South Carolina Army National Guard from 1961 until 1966. He was the owner of Denmark John Deere Company for 26 years and later was part-owner of Mogokin Auction Company in Cope, South Carolina.

Carlisle grew up in Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church and later joined the Ehrhardt Baptist Church with his wife. He was a faithful and active member of his church where he served as Deacon and Chairman of the Property and Grounds Committee for many years. He was a member of the Ehrhardt Lions Club for over 56 years. Carlisle served as Mayor for one year and was on Ehrhardt Town Council for 30 years. He was a volunteer with the Ehrhardt Fire Department for many years, and served as treasurer of Ehrhardt Cemetery Committee.

Carlisle loved working with his cows and working on the farm in his younger years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed having his family and friends over to visit and eat with him. Most of all, he dearly loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, always cheering them on from the sidelines and supporting them in anything they did.

Surviving are: his wife of over 62 years, Carolyn Carter Kinard of Ehrhardt; children, Valerie Kinard Murdaugh and her husband Steve of Walterboro, and Michael Kinard and his wife Melissa of Branchville; four grandsons, Matthew Murdaugh and his wife Mikael, Brian Murdaugh, Jesse Murdaugh, and Andrew Murdaugh; three granddaughters, Casey Kinard Stroble, Kelsey Kinard Hackworth and her husband Hunter, and Carley Kinard Watkins and her husband Jacob; two great grandsons, Cayson Stroble and Brooks Murdaugh; one sister, Joyce Mears Rucker and her husband Steve of Lexington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Marshall Mears and his wife Wanda.

Funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Friday morning, September 25, 2026, at Ehrhardt Baptist Church, 427 Allen Street, Ehrhardt. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Road, Ehrhardt.
