CarLeigh Rose Avery, age 5, of Walterboro, entered into rest into her Savior’s arms Friday evening, May 1, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sulfatase Deficiencey.
Born November 23, 2020, in Walterboro, South Carolina, she was a daughter of Craig L. Avery, Jr. and Valerie Iler Avery. CarLeigh was full of love and everyone who ever knew her, loved her. A daddy’s girl at heart, she enjoyed being at his side in the mechanic shop while he worked on cars. She had a thing for fast and loud trucks especially her daddy’s as well as going mud riding which was one of the family’s favorite pastimes. CarLeigh will always be remembered for being full of spirit and fearless and as a never-ending fan of Peppa Pig, Blues Clues, and the Mickey Mouse Club House.
Surviving in addition to her parents are: her siblings, Aleeah Avery, Skylar Tuten, and Timothy Avery; her paternal grandparents, Katherine Michelle Avery (Bennie) and Craig Avery Sr.; four aunts, Courtney Godwin (Cody), Rachael Romain (Chris), Miranda Avery, and Amber Light; and five uncles- Randy Allen Crosby Jr. (Rachel), Corey Avery (Brittany), Jacob Light (Crystal), Kenneth Seth Iler, and Billy Iler; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members. She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Lisa Michelle Iler and Kenneth Sherman Iler, and a great grandmother, Marie L. Avery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials in her memory to: United Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency Foundation, Post Office Box 806, Biloxi, Mississippi 39533.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2026, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. The family has requested attendants to wear Lilac, yellow, blue or bright colors in her memory as we celebrate her amazing life.
