C. Carroll Polk, Sr.

Mr. C. Carroll Polk, Sr., 74, of Islandton, entered into rest Friday morning, January 23, 2026, at his residence. He was the husband of forty-one years to the late Mrs. Sherry Gibson Polk.

Born August 8, 1951, in Colleton County, South Carolina, he was a son of Mrs. Edith Mae Rahn Polk and the late Mr. Wendell Coker Polk. Carroll was a remarkable builder, capable of building most anything that he set his mind too. He built countless homes in the Islandton community as well as throughout Hampton and Colleton counties. He worked for Brunson Construction Company in Hampton as a Superintendent from 1997 until 2020. He was a member of Rice Patch Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was a Master Mason, holding his membership at Hudson Masonic Lodge NO. 373 – Ancient Free Masons in Islandton. A volunteer with the former Islandton Fire Department, he was instrumental in the building of the Islandton Fire Station. When that stationed merged with Colleton County Fire and Rescue, he continued to serve as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Carroll will always be remembered for his laid back and easygoing style. He was never scared of a challenge and was a great friend who was always present and always willing to be a part of anything that was going on.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Islandton are: two sons, Calvin C. “Kipp” Polk, Jr. of Islandton and Gabriel W. Polk and his wife Raven of Cummings; two brothers, Lavern Polk and his wife Carolyn of Islandton and Timmy Polk and his wife Barbara of Islandton; three grandchildren, Landon Kipp Polk, Whitney James Polk, and Colt Timothy Polk; a nephew, Jared Polk and his wife Carey and their two children, Addison and Anderson; and a dearly beloved cousin, Russell Gibson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: Rice Patch Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton, South Carolina 29929.

The family will be at the home of Lavern and Carolyn Polk, 1865 Ashton Road, Islandton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2026, from Rice Patch Christian Church, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton. The Reverend Dr. Thomas Kelly and The Reverend Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 1:30pm that afternoon in the church sanctuary.
