Biography

Mr. Burley Glenn Hickman, 70, of Cottageville, entered into rest Saturday evening, May 24, 2014, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2014, from the graveside at Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville.

Born April 3, 1944, a native of Cottageville, he was a son of the late Burley Hickman and the late Ethel Dandridge Jordan and was the step-son of Roy Lee Jordan, Sr. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Ear and was a retired maintenance employee of the Colleton County School District. A country boy at heart, he will be fondly remembered for his love of fishing, catfish stew, singing, playing the guitar, and pool. He would do anything possible to help others and always gave of himself in anyway needed.

Surviving in addition to his step-father of Cottageville are: his wife, Angeline Hardy Hickman; three daughters, Glenda Kay of Walterboro, Laura Fortier and her husband Allen, of Moncks Corner, and Alanna Hickman of Cottageville; two sons, Burley Hickman and his wife Debra and Mark Hickman all of Conway; two brothers, Roy Lee Jordan, Jr. and Bobby Gene Jordan both of Cottageville; and a sister, Joyce Roberts of Cottageville. There are five grandchildren that also survive as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock this Wednesday evening at THE BRICE W. HERNDON AND SONS FUNERAL HOMES, WALTERBORO CHAPEL, 1193 Bells Highway, Walterboro, 843.538.5408. Visit the registry online at: www.briceherndonfuneralhome.com.
