Mr. Marion Dwight Godley, affectionately known as Buddy or Deek, 63, of Railroad Avenue, East, Hampton, died Friday, July 30, 2010 at Hampton Regional Medical Center.



Funeral services will be held 6 oclock Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.



Mr. Godley was born March 19, 1947 in Miley, SC and was a son of the late Earl Clancey Godley and Martha Ruemell Cook Godley. He retired from Westinghouse, having worked in the maintenance department and served his country in the National Guard. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed having a hot cup of coffee with his friends at Hampton Restaurant and loved sharing the stories from the restaurant with his family. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.



Surviving are: his wife, Jackie Tuten Godley of Hampton; children, Stacey Godley and his wife Katie of Walterboro, Shelby Godley and his wife Shanna of Fairfax, Tommy Brunson of Hampton and Misty Godley of Hampton; sister, Carolyn Ferrell of Walterboro; grandchildren, Kyle Brunson, Stacey Godley, Jr., Austin Godley, Boe Brunson, Randa Godley and Colby Dwight Godley; and nephews, Tony Ferrell of Seabring, Florida and Denny Ferrell of Walterboro. He is also survived by his beloved bull mastiff, Bullee, whom he cooked breakfast for every morning. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Earl Pete Godley.
