Mr. Bruce Wilford Gillispie, 72, of Walterboro, entered into rest Sunday evening, October 17, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Born February 19, 1949, in Beaufort, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Ira Wilford Gillispie and the late Julia Hiers Gillispie. He was the owner of Gillispie and Son Trucking in Walterboro. He was raised at First Christian Church in Walterboro. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He was an avid Clemson and Nascar fan and he especially loved drag racing.
Surviving are: three children, Bruce H. Gillispie, Sr. (Erica) of Walterboro, Monica Gillispie Williams (James) of Florida, and Erica Winn (Jerry) of Adams Run; a sister, Mary Sue Gillispie (Frank) of North; and a brother, Patrick Gillispie (Leslie) of Kentucky. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bruce, Jr., Taylor Anne, Tiera, Deon, Jayden, Harley, and Elliott; and nephews, Jamie Bryan (Nicole), Matthew Bryan (Ashley) and Tucker Gillispie. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Anne Gillispie; and a sister, Cathy Gillispie Bryan and her husband James.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2021, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro. The Reverend Chase McRae officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral beginning at 2 o’clock at the funeral home.
