Mr. Bruce Edwin Dinehart, 64, of Walterboro, entered into his state of eternal rest Friday morning, November 5, 2010, at his residence under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Sunday afternoon, November 7, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Dinehart was born May 7, 1946, in PennYan, New York and was a son of Mrs. Doris Dinehart Strong and the late Forrest M. Dinehart. He served our country faithfully in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968, having served during the Vietnam Era. While living in New York before moving to the Walterboro area, he had previously worked with Goulds Pumps, Taylor Vineyards, and Sylvania Electrical. He was a general contractor for Mitchell Construction in Walterboro and had also worked with his wifes family business, Breland Logging. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, as well as reading and fishing the local creeks of Colleton County.
Surviving in addition to his mother of PennYan, New York are: his wife, Mrs. Diane Breland Dinehart; two daughters, Joyce Douglas and her husband Kenneth and Karen Dinehart all of Canton, Texas; a step-daughter, Allison Thornton of Walterboro; two sisters, Judy Carpenter and her husband Darryl of Bland, Virginia and Joyce Chapman and her husband Charles of PennYan, New York; and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Helen Breland/Givens of Walterboro. There are three grandchildren, Brittany Dinehart, Austin Charles Douglas, and Michael Cole Dinehart; as well as three step-grandchildren, Timothy Thornton, Desmond Lyons, and Aaliyah Lyons that also survive.
